Signs of Low Testosterone: When Should You Get Tested?

Common symptoms — and why lab testing is required before any treatment decision.

Fatigue, low libido, mood changes, and reduced muscle mass can occur with low testosterone — but they also occur with sleep apnea, depression, thyroid disease, stress, and normal aging.

When to consider testing: Persistent symptoms that affect quality of life, especially with risk factors such as obesity, diabetes, or opioid use. Testing is typically done in the morning on two separate occasions.

What testing involves: Blood draw for total testosterone; free testosterone and LH/FSH when indicated. NeuMed's Men's Total Health panel includes comprehensive hormone markers.

What testing does not mean: A single low reading or symptoms alone do not automatically mean TRT is appropriate. Your provider interprets results in clinical context.

Next step: Schedule a men's health evaluation at NeuMed Houston.
