What Does a Thyroid Panel Measure?

TSH, T4, T3, and when thyroid labs are ordered for fatigue or weight changes.

Thyroid hormones regulate metabolism, energy, body temperature, and heart rate. Thyroid disorders can cause fatigue, weight changes, and mood symptoms.

TSH (thyroid-stimulating hormone): The most common screening test. High TSH may indicate hypothyroidism; low TSH may indicate hyperthyroidism.

Free T4 and Free T3: Active thyroid hormones. Measured when TSH is abnormal or symptoms persist despite normal TSH.

Thyroid antibodies: Ordered when autoimmune thyroid disease (Hashimoto's, Graves') is suspected.

NeuMed resources: See /functionalhealth/biomarkers/tsh/ and related biomarker pages. Thyroid markers are included in several FHL panels.
